ICTERINE WARBLER
Hippolais icterina
A: Spotsanger
A common summer visitor to the northern parts of the subregion. Regularly found in thick, dense shrubs in woodland, bushveld and acacia. Comes in two forms, a yellow form (with varying degrees of yellow – some remarkably bright!) and a drab brown form. Lacks a prominent supercilium, but it does have a prominent eye ring. Its call is a harsh, relatively slow jumbled warbling.
