BLACK CUCKOOSHRIKE

Campephaga flava

A: Swartkatakoeroe

 

A locally common resident to the moister parts of South Africa. Female has a very unique pattern, and male is chiefly black with a yellow/orange gape. A few of the population have yellow shoulder patches (as seen here). Call is an insect-like, “Trrrrrrrrr”.
