Shikra

SHIKRA

Accipiter badius

A: Gebande Sperwer

O: Little Banded Goshawk

A fairly common resident. The adults have a rich red/orange eye, which differentiates it from other similarly barred accipiters. They inhabit generally moist woodland, and good spots for them include Borakalalo Nature Reserve, the Zaagkuildrift Road, and central Mozambique.
