Southern Bald Ibis

SOUTHERN BALD IBIS

Geronticus calvus

A: Kalkoenibis

One of southern Africa’s strange endemics. It is fairly common in the grasslands of the eastern portion of southern Africa. Almost always in flocks. They have an amazing iridescence in the sun. They share their unique ‘bald’ head with a northern counterpart, found at the top of Africa.
