Spectacled Weaver

SPECTACLED WEAVER

Ploceus ocularis

A: Brilwewer

A common bird of moist thickets along the east coast of South Africa. Their “pwe-pwe-pwe-pwe-pwe-pwee-pweee” call is always the first indicator. They just reach into the Gauteng province at Zusterstroom – which is well west of where general field guides show their distribution. A bird one does not get tired of too quickly.
