Southern Pochard

SOUTHERN POCHARD

Netta erythrophthalma

A: Bruineend

Fairly common. Male is often confused for the similar Maccoa Duck, but differs in having a duller blue bill, and uniformly dark upperparts (as opposed to a dark head and chestnut upperparts). Female is uniformly brown, with a white crescent on the face. In flight, both male and female show a distinct white panel in the wings.
